As per this holistic approach, diabetes is called Prameha or sweet urine and is mainly a Kapha dosha disease, but the Vata dosha also plays a role.

There are many similarities between modern-day diabetes and Prameha in Ayurveda. But unlike modern medicine, Prameha in Ayurveda goes beyond insulin issues and blood sugar levels. It takes a more holistic approach and believes that prevention of Prameha is as important as treatment.

According to Ayurveda, we are all born with a specific Prakruti resulting from the interrelationship between the tridoshas – Vata, Pitta and Kapha – in our body. Any imbalance in these tridoshas causes diseases and health conditions. More than focusing on a particular medicine or ayurvedic preparation to deal with Diabetes, Ayurveda focuses on correcting the dosha imbalance.

Ayurveda believes that controlling blood sugar levels is not a complete treatment for Prameha but that the treatment should also include ways to prevent further complications.

What is the Ayurvedic treatment for diabetes permanently?

Aushadhi (Medication)

Vichaar (Thoughts)
